Deanna (Illinois) Hi Glenda, He is great. He is fun to ride and has lots of comical antics. Him and my palomino gelding actually play. They act as if they were 2. Thank you for Hero. Hi is a great addition to our family. We even had his street sign made and put up already. Thank you for your time. We just love Hero! Have a good evening. Deanna Take care. Deanna
Lynne (Florida) Just to give you a little low down on the process I went through in looking for a new horse; I had to put my Tennessee Walker down last August because he had foundered in Texas in 2005. We made our usual trip to Tennessee in October of that year for our annual trail ride, sans my Tennessee Walker because he was recovering from his founder. I had been offered, by a friend of mine, her horse to ride while up in Tennessee, but when mounting that horse one morning, he spun before I even had a chance to get my right leg over the saddle, thus throwing me to the ground where I broke my Pelvis in three places. We sold our house in Texas in March of 2006 and moved all of our animals to Florida. My Tennessee Walker made the trip just fine and was recovering from his founder, but in July of last year, he was diagnosed with EPM. I have been told that EPM is usually contracted by animals that have been compromised and by my horse having foundered, he certainly was compromised. (This was all very foreign to me because we have owned horses for over 30 years and this was the first horse I ever had that foundered, and the first that had EPM…and I pray to God the last). What this is all leading up to is I completely lost my confidence after my accident, but since trail riding is the love of my life, I really didn’t want to give into my fears. So I decided to buy a well trained horse (well try to buy a well trained horse that would help me with my problem). In the past, I always bought young horses, broke and trained them myself. I’m getting too old to go through that now. I had looked at many horses on the internet for the past six months. I came across G&G Flatshod Farms and was impressed by their philosophy and the way they said they did business on their Website. I had E–mailed Glenda with some questions and she answered my questions and suggested that she send me a DVD of the horses she had for sale. I thanked her and thought that was a wonderful idea (since we had decided that we would make the trip up there if she had anything that I thought we might be interested in). At the time, Glenda had 17 horses on the DVD and all of them looked very nice and well cared for. I decided that with such a nice selection, it would certainly be worth our while to make the trip. I’m very glad that we did. The afternoon we got there, Glenda was gracious enough to rescue us, as our truck broke down about 5 miles from their ranch, she even drove us back and forth to our hotel (that’s another story). She showed us through their barns that afternoon and we saddled a couple of horses up that day and I rode them on their track and one on their trails. The next morning we tried a few other horses out in the same manner. I had told Glenda my problem with losing my confidence, she was very understanding, and I believe she really makes an effort to match the rider with the right horse. We bought a five year old registered racking horse named Legend. Glenda told me he is a Kentucky Mountain horse, but was never registered in that registry, so she registered him a racking horse. So far, Legend has been a perfect gentleman, well gaited and is not a “stick in the mud”. He likes to go, but he listens to me, has sense and I don’t want to brag too much because I’m afraid of jinxing it, but he is a dream come true. Now having said all of that, I can understand why maybe your husband might be afraid of buying a horse sight unseen. Since we made the trip up there, we didn’t have that problem. But, the reason why I looked outside of Florida for a horse is because of the horror stories I have heard about people bringing many of these “sale” horses into Florida from Tennessee. Many of them are horses with problems and they are just unloading them here. The other reason is because I can’t sell anything. Once I buy a horse, it stays with me for life, so I had to take my time and try to do my homework. The only thing I can say is we all take a chance when buying a horse, but the fact that G&G have a 14 day return policy and they provide and pay for a vet check were other reasons I felt a little more comfortable doing business with them. I had never heard of anyone doing that, but it’s been years since I bought a horse. I can honestly tell you I don’t know Glenda and Gerald personally, my husband and I were there at their ranch March 14th and left for home on the 16th. Our experience with them was a very good one and my horse is working out well for me. I apologize for making this a book, but I tend to do this when the subject of horses come up.
Kelly and Dean (Indiana) Hi Glenda, Finally made it home. Dean got lost again while I was trying to sleep. Silver travelled like a dream, munching on hay the whole time––then stood relatively patiently (after 8hrs in a trailer) while I put a light sheet on him. Turned him into the indoor arena to roll & stretch. He just wandered around, looking for food. Don’t think the arena will even phase him when we ride him for the first time in it. After his bath with shampoo & conditioner, he really cleaned up pretty. His tail looked much prettier & had a beautiful shine. He is going to be a looker when he’s shed out, tacked up & on the trail. Dean can’t wait. He’s so excited, just like a little kid––which means I get to go trail riding more often!!! Thanks again for your patience & hospitality. We’ll keep in touch. Kelly

A million thank yous and I’ll NEVER bother you about another horse for me again in my life, and THAT’S a promise! He’s so handsome too, and what a love bug, he is everything yu said he’d be and more AND I’m not afraid of him. He really is push button and a PERFECT confidence builder for me and a rocking chair to boot.
Shelia (North Carolina) Hi Glenda and Gerald, I just wanted to send you some current photos of Jack and I doin’ our thing! I can’t tell you how much I am enjoying this boy. He has been a great exercise machine too and has helped me lose 30 pounds over the last year! He is much cheaper and more fun than the gym. We have found our niche in competitive trail riding. He has ribbons from the last two rides taking a 3rd and 5th place. His next ride is this Sunday.
Nancy (Florida) HEY WE JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW WE GOT WHISPER AND HES DOIN REAL WELL WE RODE HIM YESTERDAY AND MY GRANDMOTHER WANTED ME TO TELL U SHE LOVES HIM AND THANK YOU VERY MUCH
Marge (Kentucky) Hi Glenda, Thought you’d like to see how Rocky’s doing, he’s been great. Took this photo today, monday, 08/21, a beautiful cool morning, and a great ride. I still have my old appaloosa, Colt, and ride him occasionally, as a matter of fact, just took photos of him the other day too, he has adapted to Rocky finally, I guess he’s realized that he can share the attention. I still enjoy looking at your site. Marge Para and Rocky
Sue (Utah) Dear Glenda…I just wanted to let you know how pleased I am with D.C. He is everything and more then you told me he would be. If someone had told me 3 months ago that I would end up buying a 3 year old gelding, I would have told them they were crazy. D.C. has done every task that I have thrown at him with confidence and calmness. We went riding recently into the mountain close to home. We came across a group of hunter in their camp. They commented on how calm both our boys were and asked if they were brothers. D.C. and Mikes horse are the same height and once D.C. bulks up a wee bit they will really be hard to tell apart. Mike calls D.C. the “delinquent child” as he likes helping Mike with chores around the field and barn. Following him like a puppy dog and sticking his nose into everything. Personally I call him the “delightful child”. I honestly feel more comfortable and confident on this young horse then I did 75% of the time on my old horse. Thank you for your HONESTY,INTEGRITY and being so helpful from start to finish in purchasing D.C. and finding such a good transporter at such a resonable price to get him to Utah. I will recommend you folks to anyone looking for a horse. Thank you again Sue McLaughlin…Farmington, Utah
Linda (Tennessee) Hi Glenda, Took Looker to Florida for 1 1/2 weeks. Just got back Sunday night. I had a chance to open him up on a dirt road and WOW!!!! He racked at warp speed and the more I kissed to him, the faster he went – and the smoother he got. I was really impressed. I know I had a BIG grin on my face the whole time. He trailers better than any horse I have owned as far as eating, drinking water and peeing in the trailer. He does it all. I just held a bucket up to his window, let him stick his head out and he drinks. Doesn’t seem to stress out about anything at all. At first I was worried that you were right about him not having a motor big enough for me – and he is very relaxed around a group of horses, but when I opened him up, we were by ourselves and he was a lot more pumped up. Just the way I like it. Ha. Hope he keeps it up. My address is: Linda Jamestown, TNÂ
Judy (Tennessee) Thought I would give you an update on my Pretty Boy: The girls at the barn are calling him Jack (for a Halloween Jack–O–Lantern). The farrier started that one… The end of October, I moved him to the barn where we kept our Saddlebred. He was a little spooky for the fist couple of weeks; maybe too much moving around to suit him. But he has settled in very nicely now. They have the cleanest, brightest stalls (each has it’s own window) of any barn I have been in and he likes to look out his window when he’s in. He is turned out almost all day every day except Sunday in a HUGE field and has become best friends with a couple of the othe geldings. This is a horse who much prefers to be in the field except for dinner time. He is so much happier at this barn and it shows. He is a sweet horse and we are going to have fun together. He’s the perfect size for me. Went trail riding up to the Sand Cave at Cumberland Gap State Park in Virginia all day Sunday with my friends. It was a fun ride and a beautiful day. One of my friend’s horse laid down in the middle of the trail for a little nap all of a sudden and we all got a big laugh out of that. Then one of the mares decided she didn’t like my horse, so she kicked me right in the knee as we were just standing there minding our own business. My whole knee is swelled up and black/blue – it hurts like you know what but I don’t think anyting is broke. Unlike the nasty mares, Pretty Boy was a model trail horse and he did not kick others or lay down on me , ha. ha. He did a great job. He likes to lead , but we also rode in the middle of the group, behind another gelding after the kicking incidient, part of the day too. On the way back we rode up ahead by ourselves for awhile and the thought of bears crossed my mind more than once. Fortunately all we encountered were some chipmunks and an owl. This set of friends bragged on him also. Wish we didn’t live so far apart. Bet we could have a good time riding together too.Â
Judy (Connecticut) Hi, Glenda and Gerald I just opened my copy of the latest NSSHA program and saw your center page ad. It’s beautiful, congratulations Just a quick note Luke is such an awesome horse. Thanks you for bringing him into my life. We have had such great times together. We’ve actually won a couple blue ribbons at this Hunter Paces we’ve attended this past year. I can’t wait for the fall season paces to start. Judy Belliveau–Ct.Â
Andrea (Arizona) Hey Glenda, I don’t know if you remember me. I have Jordans Soloman. Well today we went on a trail ride and you would not believe the wonderfull comments I got, Also as to where did I find him. Anyway, I posted your website on the trailriders website so they can look. Maybe they can find something as wonderfull as I did. I still love him to pieces. He will always be with me. I have never had a horse who I have bonded with like him. Andrea GoetzÂ
Tracey (Texas) Hi Glenda and Gerald, I just wanted you to know how good Rembrandt (Wicked Masterpiece) is doing and to tell you what a fantastic horse he is! He has no vices whatsoever and does whatever is asked of him under saddle. I’ve taken him trail riding at a beach (he insisted on leading, even though –to my knowledge– he’d never seen a beach and ocean waves before) as well as nice trails and woods. If we get to a bridge or a shallow pool and others are unsure if their horse will cross, Rembrandt will lead the way. Still loving the tack… I can sure recommend it highly! Now that the weather’s finally turning cooler (here in coastal Texas, September is just as hot as July and August) we’re planning more rides. In fact, we’re hoping to go Thursday. Well, y’all take care. I just wanted to say hi and tell you again how very thrilled I am with Rembrandt. We seem to be very well–matched for each other. It is a joy to own this fine animal. Tracey B.
