Ann (Kansas) Glenda and Gerald, Patches and I have been having a great time on the trails. We rode down our street, went under the I 70 overpass with cars and huge trucks zooming over us. Then over I 70 on an overpass. He was not the least bit nervous. I was ( I hate heights). We ride a couple of times a week at the county lake. It’s the perfect place to ride to expose a horse to just about everything. We have encountered all the natural creatures, turkey, deer, quail, squirrels, and woodchucks. There’s also water, mud, and plenty of hill climbing. We ride beside railroad tracks for about 1/4 of a mile and the passing trains don’t scare him. The spookiest part of the ride for most of the horses is riding through the main entrance area past kids on playground equipment, geese everywhere, flags flying, and lots of traffic. He was great with it all . Only hesitated one day when we encountered a really mad goose that was not about to move out of our way. All my riding buddies just love him. They are all jealous of my glide ride too. I found the perfect shirt that says ” Spotted Saddle Horse. If I wanted to bounce I would have bought a trampoline”. He is everything you said he would be and more. Thanks for all your help. Had a wonderful ride over Memorial Day. We spent four days in Coon Rapids, Iowa. Patches was perfect. Not too many times you can use perfect and horse in same sentence. Patches was on a tie line . The first night he got the lead wrapped around his front leg and somehow the snap hooked the rope. He had his head snubbed down to his cannon just above the fetlock. I looked out of the trailer early the first morning and thought he was just eating the hay he had dropped from the hay bag . He was calm and cool about the whole thing. He laid down to rest each day and it never happened again. We rode for about 14 hours over the four day period. Going across the river was challenging. Because of the rains they’ve had it had a very swift current. I get very dizzy if I look down at the water. He seemed to have the same problem the first couple of times we crossed. We kind of drifted downstream some. By the end of the ride we could go straight across just fine. Rode through pastures with cows and calves in it and he seemed very interested in them. He wanted to walk right up to them. Acted like he wanted to chase them when they moved away. Everyone said I had the makings of a cow horse. I found the downfall of having a shorter horse……I was the designated gate opener because I was the only one in our group that could get back on her horse unassisted. Take care. Ann Davis Kansas

Caitlain (Indiana)Hi, this is Caitlin, I just wanted to let you know how wonderful PJ has been over the two years I have showed him. Down below is how many placings we have placed.  1 st = 4 2 nd = 6 3 rd = 7 5 th = 1 6 th = 1 One ribbon says madness which I don’t know why. PJ has been a great buddy, we play tag in the pasture, take long trail rides, just lay in the stall (when clean), he LOVES to eat!!!! That little pork chop!! Fair starts this Wednesday and ends Sunday. I think we’ll do well; I’ll e–mail and let you know how we do. PJ says hi, and to say hello to his buddies if their still their!!! Talk to you soon, Caitlin Finger

Jody (Pennsylvania) Glenda and Gerald– Just an update: We received the saddle and Ed is loving it– sooo much more comfortable than his previous one. Also, we rode in the July 4th parade on Mon. in a nearby town. I rode my cousins horse and Ed rode Cheyenne (alias “Shy Guy “). There was a horse ahead of us that bucked, reared and backed into the crowd 4 times before the rider finally got off and walked it. Luckily, no one was hurt. There were large, pressing crowds,a low flying helicopter, balloons, loud tractors, motorcycles and cars, raliroad tracks to cross, scary manhole covers – and through it all,our SSH remained calm and alert and Ed was never out of control with him. To add to our pleasure, Ed heard several onlookers commenting on how pretty he was and children telling their parents ” I want that horse,Mommy”. It can be nerve racking to be in a parade as you don’t ever know what will happen but this is his 3rd parade and he has been good for all of them– I guess we know he is pretty level–headed. Hope all is well with you all. Take care and try to stay cool. Happy Trails – Jody

Liz (Indiana) Hey Glenda and Gerald! I haven’t spoken with you for quite some time, but “I’m Pushing for the Money” AKA “Chester” here at the Carter farm is still doing wonderful. I can’t remember if I ever thanked you properly – but you sold us one great horse and I have loved him since I first saw him. Thank you so much for all your help, and more so for you honesty. It is folks like yourself that make buying a horse enjoyable and if we ever need another one, I sure hope you are still in the business!! Thanks again! Jim and Drew Carter Ambrose, Georgia Hello Glenda, My girlfriend Rosemary and I were out at your place during Thanksgiving weekend and I purchased Sampson the big 16+ hand bay. We had traveled from PA. I just wanted to let you know that he is absolutely wonderful. He is such a pleasure to ride and loves attention. We have been doing tons of riding and he is just so much fun. I know that before I purchased him you and I were back and forth about his temperment when riding alone. He is so much fun when we are out riding alone and very safe. I am always going onto your WEB sight to look at all your beautiful horses you have for sale. Just wanted to say Hello and let you know that Sampson is doing great. Thanks again! Liz Rubino

Nancy (Florida) My name is Nanci and I’m 43 years old and reside in Florida. I want to start by thanking Glenda and Gerald for bringing Cody and I together. I needed an “anyone could ride” horse not only because of my back, but because I became a scared rider over the years. I didn’t trust any of our horses. My husband and I have owned many horses over 24 years, but after I lost my trustworthy black mare in 2002 due to severe colic, I just could never find a horse that I not only bonded to, but trusted. I’ve visited this website several times over the past 2 years and always thought the horses were just beautiful and the thought of riding a gaited horse would be wonderful. This time I decided I was going to take the plunge! I chose 2 horses from all the listings and Glenda overnighted me a video of each. Like everyone else I was worried about buying a horse without actually seeing it in person, but I watched the videos and was totally impressed. We fell in love with Cody right away. But I was still cautious and scared that he seemed great on tape with Glenda on him, but would he be calm enough for me? Well, after an hour on the phone with Glenda telling her all my fears, I made the decision to take a chance and boy oh boy did he turn out to be everything I had hoped and dreamed about. It all started with the quiet calm way he unloaded from the trailer when I greeted him with a snicker doodle (horse snack). After that, we became buddies right away. He did just as Glenda said he would. He was a perfect gentlemen in every aspect on the ground. He even walked right up to me in the pasture, which our other horses do not. He was so personable right off trying to give me little kisses and all. I just fell in love without ever getting on him. Fifty percent of my trust in him was in the week and a half he and I just spent time together on the ground without even riding. Then came the big moment we, Cody and I decided to trailer off with about 8 other horses to a reserve a few miles away. For the first time in my life, I wasn’t scared or fearful of what would happen. I was excited. He did everything and I mean everything I asked him to do. He loaded beautifully, rode quietly on the trailer with 3 other strange horses, he off loaded like a dream, then we got to our riding site. Everyone is scurrying around tacking up their horses and what was my Cody baby doing? He stood perfect to the trailer and watched every move I made instead of listening to the other horses carry on. I tacked him up slowly, as if he cared. I used my step up to mount him and off we went. I was ready for any quirk out of him especially since some of the other horses spooked at gates, blowing trees and deer. My cody? He was the best. He never once spooked, he went through large areas of water without hesitation, we walked over large logs and we came back after a 2 hour ride with my smile just as big as it could be. His worse quirk? He stopped to poop just like Glenda said he would. I thought to myself “can this be real, am I this lucky?” All of my friends and my husband were all so happy for me and envious. At least 2 people wanted to ride Cody just to try him and I was “uh uh no way”. NO ONE RIDES or TOUCHES this horse but me. My husbands exact words were “money well spent” because I’m just not the fearless rider I used to be many years ago. When we got back to the barn with all 8 other horses, they threw Cody and I a whipped cream party…..do you think Cody budged or got upset. Not once! He was drinking water out of my water bottle and licking the whipped cream rolling off of his long forelock. I am literally so in love with this horse that words cannot express just how much or my gratitude to Glenda. I guess I waited this long to purchase a horse from Glenda because Cody and I were mean’t to be! Now I’m at work just counting the minutes until I can leave to go spend time with him every night. THANK YOU G&G FLATSHOD FARMS for making my dream come true. Did I mention that he is black and white and just as beautiful as they come? That was just a bonus :–D Yours Truly, Nanci Leinhauser Cocoa, Florida June 2005

Lisa (Illinois) This is long overdue. I bought two horses from Glenda and Gerald back in January of this year and just this month (June) bought a third. When looking to buy a horse you run into all kinds of people. There are so many that will say just about anything to sell you their horse, but not Glenda and Gerald. They are the most honest, and helpful horse dealers I have ever come across and they are real nice folks to boot. They want to know what you are looking for in a horse and that is what they want to sell you, not just any old horse to make a profit. They want their customers to be happy and it shows! I could not be happier with the three boys I have brought back from Kentucky this year. They are absolutely everything they were presented to be and more. First came Bojangles, my 3 year old and then JR. They are both the best behaved, friendliest, go anywhere you ask, do anything you want horses I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. The training that these horses received at G & G makes them the best. They go through mud, water, traffic, anything without second guessing me. They couldn’t be better behaved on the ground. Both are easy to catch, bathe, clip, and oh my gosh just point them at the trailer, unclip them, and in they go! No kidding, they are the best trained horses I know. My most recent purchase was Chickamunga, a gentle giant. He is everything he was advertised to be. He is the sweetest, easiest going horse ever. He’s great on trails, trailers like a dream and goes anywhere, even alone. I give full credit to Glenda and Gerald for the wonderful training they put on their horses. They won’t sell you a horse you can’t ride. Originally I told Glenda that I would really like a black & white (pretty) horse. She gave me some great advice, she said, “Lisa, you can’t ride color”. Well, of course, she is absolutely right. She wasn’t going to let me buy a horse based on it’s “pretty” factor, she wanted to be certain that I would be safe on the horse. This really drives home what I mean about their honesty. They could probably have sold me the first black and white horse I saw, but they worked with me to find one that was within my riding ability and I really appreciate that. I couldn’t be happier with my boys. I have since sent to friends down who also purchased horses and are just as happy as me. Keep up the good work Glenda & Gerald. Sharon (Kentucky) I just wanted to let you know how much I am enjoying Trouble’s Scatman. After a riding accident in 2001 I thought I would never ride again. I did however start riding again a couple of years ago, but not with much confidence. My first outing on Trouble was a pleasant one. ( I think I may have rode with a lot more confidence) Your honesty about your horses is an asset that everyone should appreciate. Once again Thank You for putting me on a horse that is a delight to ride….  Sharon Holt Kevil, Ky.

Sue (Utah) Dear Glenda…I just wanted to tell you that I will NOT be taking up any offers of returning DC for another horse. LOL. He is everything that I wanted. We went this weekend up to scout Elk. This required us to rise at the ungodly hour of 3:30 am. load the horse and drive 5 hours. Once we got there it was time to saddle up the boys and head out. DC didnt miss a beat, he was a little mountain goat on all the rocks we had to pass over. Didnt budge at all when Mike let out a bugle on his elk horn. When we needed to tie them up he stood like a trooper. He seemed to enjoy his day wandering through the sage brush up and down hills, looking at elk and antelope. We even saw a few coyotes. I rode him close to 6 hours that first day. I was comfortable, relaxed and honestly enjoyed the riding for the first time in a very long time. He spent the night tied to the trailer with our other horse. Except for a few pawing moments I didnt even hear him much all during the night. I kept a blanket on him during the night as it was in the mid 30’s that ngiht BRRRRRRRRRRRR. We went back up to the top of the mountain the next day and rode aroung for about 3 hours. I am so happy with him and honestly feel that he and I will grow to be good companions. Thank you for all your help in helping me choose who would be best suited to me and all your assistants in getting him out here to Utah. Thanks Sue

Ron and Donna (Illinois) Glenda, Cosmo is growing and learning more and more each day. The more we learn about riding the more fun they become. We are working on our balance as well as theirs. Our trainer has been working on doing different cues with them both on the ground and in the saddle. Donna has just been riding a couple of weeks and has already noticed how great the saddles are. It is hard to understand how they work so well, but they do. I am so glad we spent the extra money to buy one for each of us. Thanks for finding these two guys; they have been a blessing to us. By the time next years riding season is here all four of us will be ready to ride. I cannot wait to see how much Cosmo will grow and change in that time. Donna and Rain are becoming fast friends and I am sure that those two will be ready to go. We hope to hear from you and how everything is going with you in Kentucky. Ron and Donna Smith Illinois

Sandi (Illinois) Glenda, just thought you might want to know how we are getting along. Boone is fantastic!! He is just what I wanted and needed. We have been riding for the past week now and have not found anything that I don’t like. He has been on trails at Shawnee and in Salamonie. I have had him out around the house and Sam rode him bareback with just the halter and lead rope. He did great! He wasn’t quite sure what Sam was doing at first but quickly caught on. We tried to get him to mosey up to the tailgate of the truck but he didn’t like that at all but got close enough so Sam could hop on. The swelling in his face has gone down and no more drainage from him nose. He still has a slight cough but only slight. He has such a good temperament! Thank you so much. I’ll write you soon. Sandi and Sam Bowling, Illinois

Dot (Tennessee) Hello from Tennessee, Well just touching base to say Master is doing great. We went to the Bucksnort Trail ride this weekend and had a blast. Of course I had to get him out in the arena and show him off.lol. He had an audience within minutes. His mane is down to his shoulders and his tail drags the ground. I’m keeping him up in a stall through show season to keep him show ready. We’ve done alot of traveling, won alot of ribbons and even some money especially had alot of fun. We also had a speed rack with a racking standardbred that claimed to be “ALL THAT”. Well if he’s all that then Master is “Plus Some” cause we blew his doors. Made a few minor adjustments to his bit and hoof angle and that boy can really get it now. He has that competitive ASB spirit for sure. See alot of pretty horses on your website….Hope all is well. Dot

Glenn (California) Hey Glenda: Fargo is doing awesome. I gave him to my daughter Greta who is 9. It was not the plan but the match was just too perfect. That horse will do anything for that kid. We could not be any more pleased. When I do get my own horse, I will be coming to you for it, without any doubt whatsoever. Thank you Glenn Evans California
