Gerry and Jazz (North Carolina) Hi Glenda, Update in a nutshell: I love Jazzy. Peg loves Jazzy. Julip and Festi love Jazzy. In fact, everyone who meets Jazzy loves her. As she gets more accustomed to us and our setup, her warm gentle and funny nature comes out more and more. She has a very quiet way of relating to me, and I am noticing that if I’m in the paddock with her and the other horses, she always (always!) checks to see where I am if the horses start moving about, before she does something like back up or bump poor old Festi from his hay. (He always has another pile to move to, of course.) She is very, very attentive to her people. I’m still doing mostly ground work, but Peg also is riding Jazzy at a walk plus slow gaiting, to keep her fit and tuned in. I’ll have to watch out, since Peg is getting VERY fond of her, too! I love just hanging out with her in the pasture (especially as a beautiful fall has arrived here), but also I am letting her know she can trust me AND that I want her to listen to me –– sorry, no grass treats with the bit in, etc. If Peg is going to ride her, I still groom her and tack her up and lead her through the pasture as far as our homemade round pen before Peg takes her out further, and I untack her as well. More and more, the nasty memories of that awful accident are getting replaced by seeing her soft face, and imagining myself out on our trails together, SOON! We went with some friends to the North Carolina Walking Horse Championship show this past week, but wow was that a disappointment. In most of the classes the horses had the high front pads and hoof chains, and looked like a different species from the good old pleasure/trail horse. Not a stout–made horse among them, or a smile on the faces of any of the riders, either. Made me grateful for people like you.

Sandy and Bill (New York) Good Morning Glenda and Gerald: We got back last night from a 5–day camping trip. I wanted to let you know that Stuntman did extremely well. My granddaughter, Katie, rode him. He went up hill, down hill, over the bridges, and through the water. He stood very good in the straight stall, too. Bill reset his shoes a few days before we left, and Bill set he was very impressed with how well he stood. He is an extremely nice colt and we all love him. By the way, I rode Doc all 5 days, and he, too, was very, very good. My back is better, and I could get a good seat. He is a gaiting fool when you open him up. He is jet black with his winter coat coming in and looks like a million dollars. We are very pleased with both these horses we purchased from you. Thanks again. You have wonderful horses, and, if we, in the future need another, we certainly will purchase from you folks again. Best wishes and health to you and your staff. Sandy and Bill

Penny (Michigan) Hi Glenda!!! I just wanted to let you know I took your advice on dealing with Hawkeye and we went this last weekend on our first weekend camping trip and I just wanted to let you know that Hawkeye was a perfect angel and gave me 2 of the best trail rides I have ever had!! All my friends that laughed at me before when I told them I had bought him sight unseen were not laughing anymore. I had people on the trail complimenting me on how beautiful he is and how well behaved he was. We rode on Saturday for about 4 hours and other than he got tired at the end he never refused anything I asked him,as a matter of fact I was riding in a group of 5 horse and riders, and they decided to canter and Hawkeye didn’t start out very good(he was very rough) and I just reined him back to a rack and they ran up a hill and waited as I gaited around the corner and up the hill. They couldn’t believe that he didn’t freak out at all and how he just scooted along so smooth and calm. I just wanted to let you know how happy I am with him and I am thankful to you for making it all happen and for picking me up when I was ready to hang it all up. I am singing your praises to anyone who will listen!!! Thanks again for EVERYTHING!!!! Penny P.S. I also love my saddle!! I got many compliments on my tack too)

Jackie (Minnesota) Glenda, I just wanted you to know that Breezy is settling in just fine. They let me bring her into the barn/stall yesterday and this morning she was turned out in the mare pasture. She comes right up to me when I go to catch her and there are no nicks or anything from the pasture. Today we rode with 2 others for a good 2 hours and she went like a dream! She fit right into the group, went everywhere I asked her (thru water, thru the woods, along a busy road, across a narrow bridge), and shied just a little when a rabbit jumped out of the grass. We timed it almost right but did get wet when it decided to rain really hard. The other person cantered to the barn but I kept Breezy at a walk which she did very willingly. Everybody in the barn loves her so she is getting lots of attention. Thanks so much for steering me in her direction. I will stay in touch and let you know how we progress. Jackie

WarnerHi Glenda, Happy Independance Day of our great nation! God Bless America! May new saddle works great! My young 5 year old seems good with it. We are both comfortable! The saddle cushioned me in several rough moments, (sudden turns and transitions into cantor), and I am looking forward to many comfortable rides with it. I know you have many customers so here are some photos of Pam and myself. You sold us “Romeo”, Pams, Kentucky mountain, who was (5) at the end of 2007. My mare has Rocky Mountain blood in her. She is full of fire and is smart! Not a mean bone in her body! Thanks for getting me the saddle so quickly! Warner

Sheila and Secret (Illinois) OMG Glenda (as my kids would say) – I have never gotten two horses together in less than 7 days before! I gave her a bath – she was great I put her in her stall – she was great I gave Henry a bath – he’s his usual I put Henry out on the pasture to dry off – usual She began to whinny and call and circle around in her stall – so – I put her halter on – and turned her out on the pasture with Henry – It was really nice to watch – she wandered around grazing and Henry was loping circles around her hoping and skipping all proud as if to say – I’VE GOT A GIRL! Well – that was about 2 this afternoon and it’s almost 8 now – they are both eating out of the feeder in the paddock as if they’ve known one another forever – no issues to report at all. If this is the way it continues to go – I am going to be very – very happy. She has been a pleasure already – and I’ve only had her for a day! She’s everything you told me she’d be – Thank you! I’ll update you again – just thought you’d get a kick out of me – I was so not a believer in a mare – I’m not even sure you know just how stubborn I can be – so – I can learn new things – even at 56! Sheila

Lynn and Buck (Arizona) Hi Glenda, Here’s a recent pic of my best boy in the springtime AZ desert. I bought Buck from you almost 6 years ago so this is a long overdue update. Thanks to your matchmaking skills, he was just what I needed to improve my riding skills and boost my confidence. We ride in some very rough, rocky and mountainous terrain here, but I know that my horse is very surefooted and can safely negotiate his way up and down most any trail. Plus his gaits are very comfortable, he has tons of stamina and can go all day! I wouldn’t trade him for anything. We’re looking forward to adding a new SSH from G&G to our home in a couple of weeks.

Carol and Skip (Oregon) Glenda, (This is truly from the heart. Carol I rode Skip yesterday for the first time; he did well. My husband rode him last Friday and thinks we got a good one. I want you to know what a joyful, painless experience this has been for me. I called you with a list of requirements in December: 14.3 aged gelding, good disposition, temperament of 3, good bone and substance, without a big shy AND that stands still for me to get on. That’s a lot of wishing! (I’m soon to be 66 and just took a very bad spill off of my good, but hyper horse in October, when he spooked really badly.) After seeing Skip’s video, I was pretty sure that he would be the right horse for me. You agreed and after a few days of thought, I decided to buy him. My two friends that own gaited horses were really concerned about me buying a horse over the internet, sight unseen, so to speak and 2200 miles away. I watched his video about fifty times, just to make sure I really liked what I saw. The worst part was waiting for Cowboy Express to pick Skip up for his long haul, after the winter storms passed. At the end of his 2200 mile, almost four day trip with Steve, he stepped right into our trailer for another two hour ride. What a trooper. We’ve owned horses for many, many years and I don’t believe we’ve had one with any better disposition than Skip’s. He’s a character too, LOVES to be messed with! I think he will be my last saddle horse; happily. He’s going to have a good home here with our other five geldings. He’s even getting used to our four, very busy Border Collies running behind his feet when we ride. Tonight, when I called for the horses, to put them in for the night, Skip was the first one to start the run in from pasture. This is his fourteenth day living here. This is the first gaited horse I’ve owned and I know I’m gonna like it! If you ever have a customer that would like to talk to me about my neat experience buying Skip, please feel free to give him or her our telephone number. Every single thing we discussed about this horse has turned out to be exactly as you told me in our conversations. Thanks for all of your help and for being such an honest professional. Best Wishes,

Claude, Donna, Beamer and Toby (Maryland) Hi Glenda and Gerald: I can’t tell you how happy Claude and I are that we made the decision to purchase our two horses from you guys. It was a 13 hour drive for us from Maryland to your farm in Kentucky, but was worth every mile. You made us both feel so welcome and you could not have been friendlier. We got a hotel room for the night and came back bright and early the next morning. You told me you would have some horses in the barn you felt would be a good match for me and to feel free to check them out. I walked through your barn and that is where I met Beamer, my Kentucky Mountain horse. He actually licked me and I instantly knew he was the one for me. Beamer is everything you stated and more. He is the sweetest horse I have ever known. He even goes to the neighbor’s fence for treats. No problem catching him, he catches me. The trail rides we take could not be more pleasurable. We have come upon deer and he just stops and looks, but never spooks. The ride is just like you said, A GLIDE RIDE. We have a great relationship and he is truly my best buddy. I couldn’t be happier. When we visited my husband owned a quarter horse and never gave it a thought to go gaited. He was very impressed with the horses you had and loved the ride we all took through the woods. It was not long after we got home with Beamer he realized that maybe a quarter horse was not so great after all. For one thing his horse could never keep up with Beamer and me on the trails, and who wants to bounce up and down in the saddle. We went to your website and he saw Toby, the Spotted Saddle horse. We watched the video and when he heard he neck reined it was all over. Never in a million years would we have ever thought about buying a horse without seeing or riding it. But, we knew you and Gerald were honest and stood behind what you sell, so it was not a hard decision. Since it was dead winter we decided to have Toby transported to our home in Maryland. The look on Claude’s face when he saw Toby come off that trailer was priceless. It only took a short time for him to know he had made the right choice. Toby is not only beautiful, he is another one that you don’t have to chase down, he catches you. Toby is very friendly, has great ground manners, and just wonderful on the trails. We have two great horses now and are having the time of our lives. For anyone reading this, you have to try the saddle that Glenda and Gerald sell (the Kentuckian). You will never be sorry you made the purchase. It is the most comfortable and beautiful saddle I have ever owned. I went all out and bought the breast strap, bridle, and pad and could not be happier. Also, if you are thinking about buying, you can’t go wrong buying the horse of your dreams from GG Flatshod farms!!

Colleen, Roy and boys! (Indiana) Hi Glenda, just a note to let you know how incredibly satisfied we are with the new saddle we purchased from you. I personally have never paid that much for a saddle before and I was scepticle. (I am a $400 saddle kind of girl) The first ride I thought well “its ok I guess”. The second ride I was like “ya know it is really comfortable” by the end of the month and lots of trails…..I wouldnt trade this saddle for anything. I LOVE THIS SADDLE!! It is hands down the most comfortable saddle I have ever rode in. Its light weight, superb quality, really nice to look at and I love the endurance cinching. I get so many compliments on it everytime I ride. I recently went to a saddle fitting expert in our area to fit my draft cross. She looked that saddle over pretty good and told me it was worth every penny! Yet once again you came through for us! You guys are the bomb! Roy, Bailey, Colleen & Big John

Joann and Copper (Oregon) Hi Glenda, Just wantwed to let you know how Copper and I are doing. Ever since Copper made it here to Oregon from Kentucky, I haven’t ceased to be amazed at him. I’ve never had such a wonderful horse. Totally beyond my expectations. He has never hesitated in anything I want him to do. Going down in canyons, up steep hills, through the brush, where you couldn’t see what was ahead. I got into a trailride with someone that does indurance riding. The gal I was riding with was way ahead of us because I was waiting up for another friend of mine whos horse was having a hard time. Copper didn’t fuss because we were so far out of sight of the other horses. He stood patiently while waited for my other friend. My 67 yr old body wasn’t ready for a ride like I was on but there was no turning back after having started. Copper took care of me. Copper is such a smooth ride and what a mover! He can leave most of the rest in the dust. Glenda, I know I hesitated buying Copper because of his Choc. Palamino color., and white socks. But I’m happy I believed you when you said he doesn’t really show the dirt. Living here in Oregon, in the winter, it is so hard to keep a palamino looking good. I have fallen so much in love him that now I wouldn’t care what color he is. He IS my buddy! I can hardly leave him. You were right when you said he will take care of me. He will be with me forever. Thanks for puting us together. I also bought a new harness for him and will hook him up this coming week. That was also a plus that I wasn’t expecting. Him being trained to pull a buggy. I know If I ever decide to buy another horse, we will contact you and Gerrald first. Your Farm and Business practices are first rate in my book. You followed through on everything you told me. Thanks again, Glenda. Joann Endicott The saddle is great we purchased from you. Sooo comfortable

Marlene and Classy (Michigan) Hi Glenda, just wanted to let you know that Classy is getting used to the routine around here and fitting in very well. He gets along well with my other gelding and is easy going with our mare. They all had baths yesterday due to the high temperture and he did very well. He has a nice way of following people around and is so easy to catch that I say he catches us. He waits at the gate for my husband to get home from work at midnight and enjoys getting a friendly rub. We have a common fence line with the neighbors and he gets along very well with their three horses too. The neighbors just love to come to the fence and give Classy apple treats and pet his silky soft coat. He is quite a sweet guy! He has been started on Ferrier’s Formula since he came and does not give any trouble eating the supplement mixed with his grain. We are so glad to have him ………… he does fit right in with the family. Thanks for raising such a nice guy. He is not afraid of anything around here …….. even comes up and puts his nose on the tractor when I am running it in the pasture. We have not had a ride yet but we will soon and I am sure he will not disappoint in this area either. Hope all is going well with you. I’m happy that you want to use my note in your website …….. people should know that you have high quality horses for sale and that you are such a pleasure to do business with. Thanks again, Marlene

Kathy and Jag (New York) Howdy Glenda Jag seems to have found his new home ! Absolutely, a wonderful addition and is working out just fine I wanted to say “THANK YOU” for all your efforts It was nice to do business with you

Terry, Paula and Joanne (Tennessee) Hi Glenda, I just wanted to drop a line and tell you how much we really enjoyed purchasing our (2) new horses from you. You and your staff were very courteous and made us feel very welcomed. The “set–up” you have at your farm is great. Being able to ride the horses around a nice soft track, than take them out through the woods on a trail with all kinds of obstacles is awesome. It really lets one see how the horse reacts and helps with the decision making in choosing the right horse. Terry, Joanna and I love our new horses, Smokey and Johnny’s Spotted Delight! They are settling in great at their new home and they both have brought us a lot of joy and pleasure. You can be sure we will recommend G& G Flatshod to anyone who is looking to buy a new horse. Thanks again for all you did for us and the great advice!! Maybe we will be able to trail ride together at LBL wrangler camp. Happy Trails J Terry and Paula Harris

Diane (Georgia) Glenda, After careful deliberation I ordered your saddle sight unseen. I did have the benefit of a friend who had visited your farm and rode in one and loved it. The pictures of your saddle on the site just don’t do it justice. It’s fantastic; wonderful design and build. The tooling, color and padding is very nice. The saddle holds you in just the right position, yet is the most comfortable saddle I have ever ridden in. Thanks again for offering such a great product. I like the saddle pad as well. I really appreciate this saddle as in several years of horse ownership I’ve had a difficult time getting just the right fit for me and my gaited horse. I can see by this saddles design why it would fit a variety of horses, which can’t be said of many saddles.
