Testimonials

Audreay (Indiana) Glenda, Sure I will be happy to send you a testimonial about Winston. First of all he loaded in a stange trailer without hesitation. He traveled 6hrs. with not one problem. Unloaded without a hitch and walked into the barn like he had always lived there. When the weather is bad and he has to stay in I am very comfortable cleaning his stall while he is in it. I have another gelding and the two of them hit it off great right from the start. Since I bought him just as the holidays and bad weather came I have not been able to ride him. I rode him one time at my house and was very much at ease with him. His gaits are wonderful and I just know he is going to make the horse I bought him for and that is grandchildren and visitors that say “Can I ride?” He is gentle and kind and he loves his treats:>) but he is everybit the gentleman when he takes it from your hand. We have had all winter to get aquainted and he has never given me a reason to say”Why in the world did I buy this horse.!” When he is in the pasture and it is time to come in more than likely he will come running:>) It took awhile for this to happen but with my other gelding saying ok here she comes! It didn’t take long…..I AM SO LOOKING FORWARD TO SPRING AND LOTS OF TRAIL HOURS ON WINSTON:>)….Audrey Nelson Bainbridge, In. P.S. My farrier took his shoes off and trimmed him and I didn’t even know he had been to my house. I asked him how Winston behaved and he said “He was better than “Blue”, The love of my horse life!” He said he thought he was a great horse and would make an excellent horse for me. This is from a farrier that never pulls any punches when you ask him a question….. Audrey Nelson–Indiana

Don (Pennsylvania) Hello, My name is Don Wolf, and I am from Lancaster,Pa.Today,my wife and I were out for a drive near the small town of Mt.Wolf and down the road and across the field in front of us went this little Black and white TWH that was just a struttin his stuff for all he was worth. My wife and I just stopped and watched him work!!The lady riding him come back across the field and we just had to stop her and compliment her on her horse. We asked her where she got him and she told us the name of your farm and that you were on the internet. Tonight I thought to look you up assuming you were a breeder here in Pa.Imagine my surprise when I read that your farm is located in Ky and you don’t breed, but buy and sell. My wife and I were in the TWH breeding buisness(small time)for 27 yrs before we retired 3 yrs ago! I am sorry to say, in all those years I may have only bred 4 or 5 with the quality I saw in that little walker you sold that woman!! I just felt the need to write and compliment you on your business and the quality of the horses you sell after seeing her horse and others you have on your site. I know how much hard work and dedication it takes to build a business and a reputation, let alone have to search out those horses.I know they don’t come easy! I wish there were a thousand more horse people like you,its good for the horse buisness.

Charlie and Peggy (Connecticut) I would like to thank Glenda and Shane for their honesty and good work with Ky’s Lady Belle. When my husband and I flew down to Kentucky we were wondering if we were going on a wild goose chase. Boy, were we wonderfully surprised. Belle was everything they said she was on the internet and via e–mails. All my friends thought I was crazy for getting a 3 year old but she has turned out to be the dream I hoped for. After only one week of being here we loaded her on the trailor and went on a group ride. She didn’t mind any of the other horses and acted like a perfect angel. Belle and our other horse Apollo have bonded and are the best “buds” plus bookends in the looks department. I would recommend a part draft horse to anyone looking for a joy to be around. I can’t say I’ve met anyone more honest in our home state and probably don’t ever intend to look here again. Also the guys who delivered her took very good care of all the horses and she didn’t even seem tired after such a long trip. Thanks again Charlie and Peggy Smith

Marti (Connecticut) Hi Glenda, I can’t tell you how thrilled we are with this incredible horse, Buck’s Masterpiece. And we owe it all to you! When I first started looking for a horse, a local horse owner told me about your farm and she highly recommended it. After exploring your website and exchanging emails with you, I was optimistic that you could help me find the right horse. Since “gaited” horses are new to me, I needed someone I could trust to guide me in the right direction. You have certainly fulfilled that trust! Of course, you had several horses to choose from, but based on our discussions, you sent me a video of a few you thought I might be interested in. Since we live so many miles away from you, the video was invaluable. After choosing my favorite (Buck), we arranged a visit, and you agreed to accept a deposit to hold Buck until we could get there. You explained that if after riding Buck I was not completely happy with him, I could transfer the depos! it to another horse. You were so very accommodating! Well, of course when I saw Buck and rode him, I knew he was the horse for me. Little did I know! Now that he has adjusted to his new home and owners, he is the horse of our dreams! He is like a puppy dog, following us everywhere we go and always wanting us to pet him. When we walk out the door, he whinnies to us as if to say, “Please come talk to me.” Even when we turn him out to graze, he comes when we call him. He is so good in every way. He is so easy to catch. He just puts his head into the halter. When it’s time to “pick” his feet, he just picks them up one at at time when I ask him to. As advertised, you have trained him to handle just about anything on the trails. He loves to explore and, after a period of adjustment, he barely reacts to the “boogers.” You had said how smart he is. Well, he has already learned my command “get over.” It only took two times, and now I don’t even have ! to touch him. I just say it! The cutest thing Buck does…….wh en I go out to give him his feed, I ask him if he is hungry, and he nods his head up and down! He is just too funny! Thank you and Gerald for all of your patience and guidance in helping me through the decision process and the adjustment phase. Everything you do is top notch, including your prompt email responses, and even the hauler you chose to bring Buck all the way to Florida, Clay Rawls. I could go on forever, but you don’t have enough space on your website! If I ever decide to buy another horse, you can bet I will buy from G&G Flatshod Farms! Regards, Betty Beck, Deland Florida Dear Glenda, I am writing to give you many heartfelt thanks for making my dreams come true! My Spotted Saddle Horse, “Sportscaster” is everything that you said that he would be, and more! He follows me around like a puppy dog, just waiting for some attention, or something to eat! After a couple of days rest from the 1100–mile trip to Connecticut, I saddled him up with no problem whatsoever and he just aims to please! I really like his gentle way even though he is young and a bit mischevious! He likes to pick up my rake or broom, and even my chair and run way with it; then stands there waiting for me to come get it, and then runs away again! I went for a wonderful trail ride yesterday with my friend at Rockin O, Marian, and he didn’t spook at all when we came up on a deer in the woods. I sit really tall on this big boy, though, and have to duck under branches that everyone else makes it under! Everyone says that “Sportscaster” and I just look right together; we make a great team, and I look forward to many rewarding years with this beautiful boy. Thanks you again so much for all of your assistance in finding the right horse for me. I will certainly be getting back in touch with you when the time comes to add another horse to our family. I’m now on a mission to make a cowboy out of my husband! Then we could ride off together into the sunset! Sincerely, Marti East Hartland, CT.

Jim (Kentucky) Hi Glenda&just wanted to give you an update on how Hot Shot and Magic did on their maiden voyage to Brown County State Park. In one word&Great. We really took them through their paces& they experienced mud, deer, wild turkey, wagons, horses with big ears pulling those wagons, bikes, little rug rats on those bikes etc. But, the most important testimonial was when we passed this coiled up snake on the side of the trail that decided to show off his “rattle” and let us know we were on his turf. The guys looked at him and simply kept their wits about them and kept walking on. I know you said they were “bomb proof”&but how did you train them to be “snake proof”?? Gerald would say I was crazy but, I wouldn’t take twice what we paid. Thanks&we’ll be sending our friends to you. Jim Higdon Owensboro Ky

Ellen (Illinois) Speedy is still being a very good boy and is a wonderful trail horse––––crosses bridges, streams, up and down steep hills without hesitation, faces barking dogs calmly–––he’s a good example for all the resident horses, one of whom objects so much to going out that she seems to spend as much time going sideways and backwards as she does forward. Speedy looks at her in amaze––seems to think Wind Dancer is really stupid. The only thing that has bothered him is wild turkeys but when I turned him so he could see what was making the funny noise, he immediately settled down. You done good when you picked him for me! E. Nelson–Illinois

Pam (Tennessee) Glenda, I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your honesty in helping me with picking out a horse. As I told you I’m 50 yr. old, and wasn’t raised on horses, and had very little experience on horses, I needed a truthful person to sell me a horse that I could ride. Most horse people don’t understand what we’re fearful of, and you do, so I’m so happy I found your sister again and she put me in contact with you. Shaker is a WONDERFUL horse, he’s not a deadhead but is so sweet, follows me around, always calm, doesn’t even run to the barn to eat, has done great on trails, crosses water, bridges, loads well, and only just kind of steps back and looks if he sees something real strange. After my mom died I made my mind up to buy a horse and enjoy it even though I was older. If you have a reader that is afraid to ride because of age and not much experience, and loves horses as long as I, they should give you a call. I know without a doubt that you can find one to suit them perfectly, you told me which ones I would like and the ones I wouldn’t even if I didn’t buy from you. Your heart is in the right place for not wanting anyone to get hurt, when you trust the person you buy from, you’ll trust your horse and won’t be afraid. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to enjoy something I’ve always wanted to do, Shaker and I bonded immediately and it was love at first sight, and I sing to him like you suggested and he loves it, he’s just a big pet. Any older person like I that would like to ride, you can if you really want to, just let Glenda help match you with a horse. Always remember there is alot of people that just wants to sell, and doesn’t take into consideration that your afraid of everything that experienced riders never think about. My thanks to you forever, I’ll keep in touch. Pam Butler Buena Vista, TN.

Colleen (Indiana) Glenda, I want you to know how happy I am with my big boy “Big John”. I love this guy. After being lied to by a previous person and being sold a horse that rears. I was soooo leary that I almost gave up hope of finding someone who would be honest and find a horse that I could trust on the trails. Since I am older (43) and just recently owned my first horse I thought I would just give up riding. Even though I adore horses and trail riding. Then I found you! Your honesty and willingness to earn my trust was overwhelming. I know I was not the easiest person to deal with. My endless questions and skepisism would have drove even the most patient person to the edge. But you never made feel like I was a pain and you found me a horse that I will have forever. I have been riding him now for 7 months and I am in love with him he is my best bud. Hes everything you said he would be. He is such a good boy. I never have to catch him he always comes easily. He has great manners, does not spook at nonsence and when he does spook it is a turn and plant . No bolting!. I have took him into the middle of picnics with kids and commotion galore and he is totally ok with it. We double ride on him all the time and bare balck is ok with him to. We street ride and trailer to parks to ride he dont care either way. But the most important thing of all is……..I feel safe on him. What I saw when I came to ride him is what I got when I brought him home. No surprises. I have your web page clicked to “faviorites” and I regulaly look at the new guys you have for sale. ANYONE that I know that is looking for a horse I tell about you. Many people say that they dont want to travel that far and my response to that is I would gladly travel three times as far as I did to get a great, sound, safe horse that I intend to ride for years. I drove an hour and bought a horse that rears, throws fits, was a pasture bully, and destroyed my fences. And they told me he was the “perfect” horse for me. Then I drove 5 hours to your place and bought the best horse in the world. He IS the best horse in the world ya know. Other people that have bought horses from you say their horse is ithe best in the world but they are lying because MY BIG JOHN IS THE BEST HORSE IN THE WORLD!!!!! Glenda I assure you when I go looking for another horse I will make the trip to your neck of the woods and maybe just maybe I’ll try one of those gaited horses you sell. With enormous and sincere graditude, Colleen from Michigna City, In

Diana (West Virginia) Glenda, Just wanted you to know we have ridden war dancer and he is a dream. He took my husband around just fine, and Me and my girlfriend rode him though our woods and he did not fret over a thing. He also lunges well on a line, goes bareback and can be ridden in a leather hackmore. He is a genteman and very sweet. I keep waiting to wake up and have some kind of reality check, bu so far he has been all that I had hoped for and more. Thanks for doing what you do, and finding great horses great homes! Sincerely, Diana and War Dancer West Virginia

Greg and Kristi (Georgia) Glenda, Just wanted to let you know how much we are enjoying Dancie! What a joy. We live in the Atlanta area looked at about a dozen horses in the Southeast. Each of the dozen had their issues (bad feet, bad legs, poor ground manners, vaccinations not kept up, etc.) And I was not sure about a 6 hour drive to Kentucky. But I’m so glad I did! Your horses are everything they are advertised! It’s comforting to know that you are buying a very sound horse. Dancie is sweet as they come. His ground manners are great. What a pleasure to groom. I finally found a horse that could keep up with my wife’s Appaloosa on the trails! On top of all his wonderful characteristics, he is very handsome (tri–color) and a gate to die for! We could not have asked for a better addition to our family. I’ll let others in the Atlanta area know if they are looking for the best trail horses – take a trip to Kentucky to see G&G Farms. By the way, the delivery service was quick and excellent! Thanks so much, Greg and Kristi Lindsay Atlanta, GA

Ethna (Washington) I contacted Glenda after several unsatisfactory attempts to pursue purchasing a horse in my area and on the web. As I am the mother of a 10–month–old baby, I was looking for a nice, family trail/pleasure horse that I could just pull out of the pasture and ride with my 13–year–old when time permitted. I saw a certain mare on Agdirect and visited G&G Flatshod Farm’s weblink. Although Bell’s A Ringin was a little more expensive than I thought I could afford, after reading the synopsis on Bell and viewing Glenda’s other horses, I figured I would send her an email to see, if by chance, she had a horse that would fit my needs. Glenda responded to my email that same day and told me she thought Bell would be the perfect partner for me and offered to work with me on the financial end if I wanted to pursue my interest in her. She even offered to help me arrange economical shipping from KY to VT if I decided I was able to purchase her. Well, I couldn’t believe the speed and positive response to my email. I had figured that beautiful mare was out of my reach, and Glenda had just put her within my grasp. I talked to my husband and we decided, after all the other disappointments, that we had better pursue this opportunity. Being a cautious person by nature, the next day I emailed Glenda several times with a multitude of questions about Bell and her suitability. Each email was answered very quickly and patiently. Through her emails, Glenda never made me feel she was impatient with my questions or gave me the impression I was ignorant for asking them. She even provided me with a video so I could see Bell’s movement and her demeanor under saddle. My dream of owning this mare became a reality. After many emails, Glenda called me and we were able to visit on the phone. She was very personable and took time to make sure I was comfortable with my decision and that all my questions had been answered to my satisfaction. All I had to do was send Glenda the purchase price and shipping fee. She did all the rest. She arranged the shipping and provided me with the shipper’s information and approximate time of Bell’s arrival. Bell arrived at my place on Sunday, September 21st. and after a period of settling in and getting acquainted with my other 2 geldings, we went on our first trail ride on September 27th. We scared up some partridge and Bell was fine. We ran into some nasty german shepards. Bell just looked at them as if to say, “Come near me and I’ll smear you into the road” and they backed off. Bell was everything Glenda promised she would be. I couldn’t be happier. I am now enjoying riding with both my older daughter and husband. I don’t have to worry about how many days go by without riding. Bell is the same no matter how much time passes without being ridden. Thanks, Glenda, for providing me with a new trail buddy! Thanks, Ethna Farnham

Wendy Glenda, Just wanted to take a moment to tell you how pleased I am with my new girl. It has been very stormy here so I haven’t gotten to ride her much but yesterday once I found the right buttons to push we had a blast. My husband is not a horse person (he is a mule man) but he came and watched us ride in my arena and he really liked her. I have been so bummed out about horses since EPM and strangles last year and Sparkles sure put a smile on my face again. Thank you!!! Also, thank you for the halter and bit. When someone cares enough to send a bit with a horse you know they care about the horses they sell. Once again, thank you. Wendy

Marcia (Illinois) Glenda & Gerald Thank you so very much for Jo–Jo. He is wonderful. My daughter, who is 6, rode him and he was great. Perfect horse for her. I’m so happy I had the chance to come down with Lisa, to meet and ride with you guys. You are wonderful. Again thank you. Marcia Wulff Newark, IN.
