Susan (Virginia) Glenda, When you look in Websters under the words “endearing” ” buddy” and “friend” there has to be a photo of Magic. What a special horse. He is settling into his new home and becoming a better friend each day. When I call him he runs to the fence and says, what’s next! I have ridden him once and know I have never ridden one smoother for sure. He was responsive to every cue and all I asked. I know he was ridden by an experienced hand who broke him the right way. Now all we need are miles together and some more sunshine! Sincerely, Susan
Robyn Cook (West Virginia) I should have written much sooner but frankly, Glenda, i kept thinking there was no way Rocket was THIS perfect and i had better just keep riding him until i email you so i could tell you about any problems we were having. Well girl…..THERE ARENT ANY!!! This horse is EXACTLY what you said – he is beyond anything i couldve hoped for. and we have ridden alot since we got home three weeks ago. I have taken him on day rides and overnight rides – both primitive camping with portable hotwire and places where they had stalls. He has ridden in front, behind and off alone. He is affectionate, sweet, calm, doesnt react to other horse’s spooks or snit–fits. He is unreal and no one can believe he is still so young!!! We have to work on standing still while i mount – which is no big deal and once i realized he was just excited and prancy for a few minutes til we rode off, i was fine – i am more calm and confident on him that on my QH i have had for 7 years. He is just what you said and his speed is not intimidating at all bc he can slow right down. The first time we had to cross a bridge (you had said he hadnt done that)…he never even hesitated – he followed the horse in front of him right across. So all the next bridges, i asked him to go first – no problem and all! sometimes he hesitates to load if i am loading by myself – he likes to have someone behind him encouraging him but yesterday i enticed him in with treats and he was ALL over that!!! We rode yesterday at my freinds farm –– tractors, equipment, huge metal drums, junk, a black snake, ditches and wild turkey were everywhere. The other two horses spooked often and Rocket was literally thinking, “Whats the big deal, guys?” And if i can just go on for one more minute…he is the kindest, most loving sweetie ever. I adore him and still can’t believe he was EXACTLY what you said. You clearly are a woman of your word and i have told quite a few friends about your business. I wont get another horse from anywhere else again. It was more than worth the 13 hour drive!! thanks again and i will keep in touch! Robyne Cooke
Gina (Connecticut) Hi Glenda, Just updating you on Daybreak. You have no idea how much I love this horse. We have been spending quite a bit of time together and doing lots of work on the ground. He loves it! He would rather be with me than out in the fields with the other horses. He is so much fun and he loves to learn. Riding him is as much fun. He is a joy to take out every time and no matter what we come across he handles it perfect. Did I tell you how much I love this horse? Last weekend I audited a 2 day clinic with Larry Whitesell. What fun..I cannot wait to take Daybreak the next time he comes and show him off! There was another woman there with a spotted saddle horse and guess what? He was bought from you! As we were both bragging about our horses, we both agreed that there is NO OTHER farm to get a great gaited horse! You sure have a major fan club here in CT. Your ears must of been ringing! Hope all is well and I hope you don’t get tired of my updates! You were right, Daybreak is very special! Gina and Daybreak!
Barbara Murphy (Minnesota) Hi Glenda, Just wanted to write and tell you I have been riding my new saddle quite a bit now and I just love it. It is so comfortable. I would recommend these saddles to anyone. They are lightweight, beautiful and a person could sit on them all day and not get sore. I think they are right up there with Tucker, and the Imus saddles. Only at a better price. Well worth the money. And the matching bridle and breast collar are great too. I get a lot of compliments on my outfit. Scotch says to say hi and he and I are having a blast. I just love that horse. I don’t know if I have told you that lately. Hope everyone there is good and you are enjoying wonderful weather and good health. Say hi to Gerald and Shannon for me. Still wish we lived closer together. Take care girlfriend. Hugs, Barb
Sam and Suzanne (Florida) Hello Glenda and Gerald, Sam and I want to thank you both for our TWO wonderful horses. Dude ( Call Me Dude ) is a magnificent horse – jet black and wow what a beautiful body – he draws a crowd wherever he is – both humans and horses. Dude is such a special horse – kind hearted – level headed – super smart and an easy keeper. And then we bought Chief ( Jet’s Gold Chief ). I don’t know if there has ever been a sweeter horse that has grazed this earth. I love to spend time playing with him. His natural curiosity makes him very brave, confident and down right funny to be around. Personality plus and he is a beautiful Palomino – wow ! Both of them come when called and follow us around without a halter. When we saddle up – they behave accordingly and stand quietly and willingly. We love all of our tack that we purchased from you. The saddles are very comfortable and of such outstanding quality – we appreciate you making all our tack available to us. Dude looks so regal when he’s all decked out in black and Chief being a Palomino turns into quite a fancy looking boy trimmed in black. We moved to a home with 10 acres last October so we could have our guys with us and we enjoy our new lifestyle of country living so much ! It was one year ago today that Dude arrived and changed our lives forever. It continues to be a wonderful journey for both Sam and I. Many of our friends and family have ridden our horses and our guys have never put a foot down wrong. Our 8 yr old grand daughter rides and our toddler grandson feeds them with his tiny hands. Of all the people that have been around our horses – our vet, farrier, friends – everyone compliments their ground manners, their beautiful condition and their gentleness. They are our perfect horses. Sam and I want to thank you both again for our TWO wonderful horses – we are so proud to share our lives with them. Sam & Suzanne Rivers ––– Pensacola, FL
Polly (California) Hi, I wanted to share my success story with veryone….I found my two dream horses at Flat Shod Farms! My relationship with Glenda & Gerald at Flat Shod Farm has been growing and on going now since fall of 2001. I desperately started writing to Glenda with my description of my DREAM HORSE when I came to realize I was not riding the horse I owned because of lack of trust in her. I live in California where the gaited breeds are just getting recognized and more popular as great trail horses. They seemed perfect for what I was looking for, gentle and calm with a fast smooth gait. I looked locally, however I could not find the quality of horse in California for the money I could “afford” to spend, and I did not want to settle for less than my dream horse. My list of preferences was L O N G and DETAILED and through the months of searching and ALL my MANY inquiries, never did Glenda hesitate to respond to my letters. I learned I could ask her “anything”, and she and Gerald would respond honestly and quickly. In August of 2002 they helped me find a very fancy and special gelding, and when he arrived in California he was everything that they had said he would be! I wanted a horse I could just get on and ride out alone on, and he has been a true pleasure. In January of 2003 I once again asked for their help, this time looking for a younger horse as a project. Once again they accessed my needs and riding level and represented the perfect horse for me. To top it off, both horses are the fancy black and white color that I had dreamed of. I had to learn patience during this process, both in finding the right horse, and then allowing him to adjust to the changes in their environment and climate once they arrived, but it was all worth it to find the right horses. I just knew if I gave Glenda and Gerald time to help me that they could find me the right horses, and they DID! I love both my boys! Their customer skills have been second to none! I now consider them dear friends and still keep in touch and ask for their advice, knowing they will discuss my question and reply honestly and quickly. To find someone you can trust to represent you in the quest for your dream horse is a rare find, but I found them out of state over the internet and made long term friends in the process with Glenda & Gerald. I just wanted to share my good fortune with the rest of the horse lovers who are looking for that special DREAM HORSE. If you are looking for honest people representing quality horses, in my opinion and based on my two gentle boys, you have come to the right place! Many miles of smiles, Polly, Mac, & Maverick Miller–Romoland Ca.
Eva (Idaho) My name is Eva, I live in Idaho and I happen to know Gerald and Glenda personally, I have been to their place twice and am planning another trip back this May….I can tell you my experiences with them have all been above board, they try really hard to put the right horse with the right person…they have always been honest about their horses and they will tell you if there are any holes in the animal and which horse would suit you best as long as you are honest with them about what type of riding you do and the use you want the horse for….since I started viewing G&G videos there have been six of their horses shipped out here….there is not one lemon in the bunch, I personally own two of their horses and they are both GREAT!! I was a more difficult customer for them as I use my gaited horses for drill teams as well as trail riding, I needed horses that were athletic, knew how to canter and yet be good on the trail and smooth as I have back issues…I can tell you they screen their horses very carefully for temperament and ground manners, they also use them on a daily basis putting each horse thru a series of riding tests on the trail, across creeks, down the road and every other way they can think of to test a horse for trail riding…Glenda rides alot of them herself just as you see on the tape…I also know Shane one of the guys who works there and he is very good with riding and training…if a horse has bad habits in any way they don’t keep them, and they don’t put them on their videos….they usually have a horse for several weeks to really see how he is before they even put him on the video….they will leave a horse in a stall for several days to see how he acts when not having been ridden and kept up in a stall…they like to be able to answer all your questions about a horse honestly….they really are good folks! Gerald is very knowledgeable and they have been in the horse business for many many years, they are not some fly by night outfit and they don’t use drugs….I do know of folks who have taken a horse back and traded for another….you have to realize that is within reason of course, I could not have done it as I live about $700 away in shipping but when I did have a horse to sell there was no problem getting him sold as they are all really nice….the first horse I bought from them was more or less a training horse for me as I was just learning how to ride gaited horses and I outgrew him quickly…I was able to sell him here easily and then let Gerald and Glenda know I was looking again….the two horses I now have I saw only on the video tape, I did alot of talking with them and asked many many questions…they knew what I wanted and needed and told me which horse on the tape would work for what I do….I bought them both without going back there to check them out first and would do so again in a heartbeat….both horses are well mannered, trailer nicely, and have never offered to buck, bite or show any bad habits…they are good for the horse shoer and I even let my 74 yr old father ride one….I recommend G & G Flatshod Farms highly to anyone who asks, I am not sure I would buy another horse from anyone else….. Eva Harper–Meridian, Idaho
Allison (South Carolina) Hi Glenda, I would be happy to write a testimonial on my experience with buying a horse from you. After many years of owning horses and never feeling completely safe when I was riding them, I wondered if there was any horse that would be suited for me. While searching on the internet for that perfect horse, I came across G&G FlatShod Farm. What impressed me the most were the many testimonials people had written in, praising their experience with buying a horse from Gerald and Glenda. These people seemed really happy. Well I decided to contact them, couldn’t hurt right? The day I emailed Glenda and told her I was interested in a very safe, bombproof horse and laid all my fears about riding out on the table, she phoned me and we talked for probably an hour. She was very compassionate and understanding about my wants and needs. She mailed me video tapes of the horses she thought I would be interested in, and even personally video taped me a “Getting acquainted tape” for the horse I was considering. We tried several horses, which were all truly wonderful horses, but just not the perfect fit for me. Maybe my expectations were too high? After many phone conversations, Glenda told me she had the perfect horse, she just knew in her heart this was a perfect match, this was the one. I was just about to give up, when I decided, “ok, one last try”. She and Gerald met me half way with my new horse, Poco. Well let me tell you, Poco is a godsend. I couldn’t have a more perfect horse, her personality and temperament are the most wonderful. She’s beautiful, and I can finally ride and know I am safe on her. Finally, I can relate to those people in the testimonial’s, I’m happy too! I can’t thank Gerald and Glenda enough for all they have done for me. I could go on forever, but I know Glenda will be receiving many more testimonials, and I want to leave enough space for theirs. For anyone who is skeptical about buying a horse on the internet, I can promise you, you won’t go wrong with G&G FlatShod Farms. Gerald and Glenda are the most honest, caring people you could ever want to meet. They listen to your needs and wants, and will match you up to your perfect horse. I will tell every one looking for a horse about Gerald and Glenda, as I certainly would buy another one from them. I thank you both, from the bottom of my heart, for making a dream come true for me, you certainly went way beyond the call of duty. I couldn’t be happier with my new best buddy, and my new found friends for life. Allison Keaton–Batesburg, SC
Jan (Arizona) “Very, very impressed” is the minimum description I can give for dealing with Glenda. I received my mare “Belle Star” in wonderful condition (after a 2000 mile journey) and eveything about her was even better than I imagined. She was purchased sight unseen, only photos and a video and lots and lots of chats with Glenda. I wanted a nice laid back horse for my boyfriend to ride (beginner) with me and my mare. Glenda did some convincing that this 3 yr. old was everything that I was requiring, I was skeptical due to Belle’s age. But.. lo and behold this mare is true to the description. She is not only perfect on the trails, she’s such a loveable, affectionate and pretty horse. And.. guess who rides her all the time now.. I do. (This alone is a testimonial for Belle: I’m 60 and have back problems due to a broken back years ago.) We get compliments on her wherever we take her. The 3rd time she was out on the trails with us, we rode her in a Rally Ride, Glen and I came in second place (only 2 points behind first place). She is so nice, it’s hard to resist breeding and duplicating her. I’m always encouraging people interested in purchasing a nice horse to call Glenda and Gerald.. in fact I have once again begun talks with Glenda about another horse.. one for the kids. Thanks again Glenda ps: Glenda is so great about guaranteeing your satisfaction too. My girlfriend and I each purchased one of her saddles. Sue will never be without hers, loves it to death, but I just didn’t ’fit’ mine and she was soooo gracious about the return. Thanks ever so much, Jan Wilder Tucson, Az.
Kathy (South Carolina) Glenda and Gerald Myers are a rare breed of people. Infrequently can youfind folks these days that are so honest, helpful, and really do care about others’ happiness. I purchased my new best friend from them just recently. I was a little hesitant about buying a horse sight unseen, but Gerald andGlenda both spoke to me at length and really found the perfect match for me. He is all they told me he would be and more! The video did not do him justice. When he came here he settled right in as if he had lived here all his life. He is so beautiful, well mannered, and just a pleasure to be around. While going through a difficult time in my life, it’s so wonderful to know that I can go out and ride, have a relaxing experince, and leave my troubles behind (even if for a short time). After purchasing my horse, if I ever had any questions, I would call and Glenda or Gerald always picked up the phone and helped me out right away. I can’t thank you guys enough! Never would I hesitate to recommend G&G Flatshod Farms to anyone looking for a good, gaited, honest horse. Kathy Collins– Lexington, SC
Karen (Pennsylvania) I believe I have the sweetest horse on earth……..thanks to Gerald and Glenda! My best friend has been raving about these two people for 3 years now, after buying two horses from them. When I was ready for a new horse,my husband suggested trying Glenda to see if she had what we were looking for,and what was suitable for my riding ablility. Within a matter of 2 days she was back to me with pictures of just what I was looking for,and after picking from 3 horses, she sent me a video of Flashy’s Bad Habit. I was sold in a minute! Next was getting him to me in Pennsylvania! It was going to be several weeks till I could get down to her,so her haulers gave me a price that was cheaper then I could have gone down to Kentucky! And less then a week later,he was on his way! Now as my luck would have it…….Flashy got sick on the way to me!Gerald was on the phone to me keeping me up to date as to what was going on,and thank goodness, his haulers were knowledgeable enough to notice a sick horse in the making, knew just who to call, and had him to an Equine hospital where he spent the night and all was well the next morning. They could have brought him to me as he was………or worse yet…..what would I have done if I were hauling him home and he got sick?I would not have been prepared for any such situation!! I bought Flashy from them with only a video, not having seen him.He is EXACTLY as well behaved and as nice to ride as Glenda stated.I wanted a horse with some go,so I wouldn’t get bored, yet be able to put my husband on him as a new rider.Glenda told me Flashy was all of this……..and believe me he is…..AND MORE!! I have never seen a 3 yr old horse as well trained as this one,and each time I ride him I fall more in love with this guy!! Thank You Gerald and Glenda, for a GREAT horse!!! Karen Greiss–Mt. Wolf Pa.
Elaine (Connecticut) I just had to write to you again about Treasure (“I’m a Treasure”). Last Sunday, my pal Gunilla (she bought her horse from you, too) and I were having a relaxed ride in the woods, when all of a sudden some deer jumped out from the bushes. Our horses are fine with deer, but the sudden movement startled both horses and riders. Lord knows where my mind was at the time, but the next thing I knew, I was hanging off Treasure’s shoulder. Picture my left foot was still in the stirrup, my right foot was on the seat of the saddle. My left hand was on the pommel (I was riding a Tucker endurance saddle) and my right hand had the reins (don’t worry – the reins were loose and not hauling on his mouth). I was hanging there, facing his tail! All this lasted a fraction of a second, and I was preparing to ditch (as well as thinking Treasure would jump sideways or at least the saddle would slip) when I noticed that treasure was standing stock still! He hadn’t moved a muscle, just had himself planted there until I quickly pulled myself back in the saddle. He didn’t move until I gave him a signal to move forward. WHAT A WONDERFUL HORSE! And I think it was that great saddle pad that I bought from you which kept the saddle from slipping while a 115 lb weight hung off of it. I can’t tell you how much I love this horse – I knew he’s affectionate, but never realized that he’d look out for me, too. I’m so glad I bought him from you Regards, Elaine Lambert–North Stonington, Ct.
D’Lee (Indiana) My mom and I currently own two horses that we purchased from Gerald and Glenda. We are very happy with each of “our girls”. We purchased our mares for their disposition, gait and looks. I used to show but now just “seriously trail ride” and these horses have been a dream. These mares were presented to us just the way Gerald and Glenda said they were. The last horse we purchased from them was bought with my new husband in mind as he is a beginner rider. They were very patient with him as he came down and rode the mare. If there is anything either Gerald and Glenda thought would concern me, they always told me up front. I have been down to their place so many times looking at horses or with friends when they are looking for horses. (I love going down to their place in Kentucky). They are probably sick of seeing me! They allowed me to spend a week of my vacation with them. I was able to ride their horses and see how they run their business. I was even able to ride one of their horses in a parade in Hardin that year. I rode that horse in the parade with traffic, buggies and a fire engine in front of the horses! After coming home, I talked my mother into buying that horse! After seeing them in action, I would wholeheartedly recommend them to my friends and have done so. When the weather breaks, will send you all a picture of myself, my mom and my best riding buddy on our horses that we got from Gerald and Glenda.
Carla and JKeith (Maryland) In my youth I loved and rode horses all the time, ending up with a quarter horse gelding that I raised and showed at AQHA shows. He was an alpha horse and I really had to watch myself around him. He was so aggressive – it was very dangerous. I had many near misses with him and my life…so after three years I sold him. This happened 30 years ago and since then I have stayed clear of horses– being so scared that I would tremble at the sight of one…or even the thought – I met a TWH at a friend’s farm and surprisingly became ”head over heels”all over again. I felt so relaxed and safe around this TWH gelding that I of course wanted another chance at horse ownership. He was not for sale, of course – the good ones never are. The owner of the farm had other horses for sale (I should have ran in the other direction). I quickly purchased a young mare that was supposed to be so well trained and great on the trails. Well, she was anything but! Couldn’t even put a saddle on her! Of course the seller could not take her back..he didn’t have time for that. After several months of intense training, I got her to the point where she was good under saddle, but still very spooky out on the trails. This is what I didn’t want to do at my age – train another green horse (especially still being very scared underneath). Eventually I did manage to sell her to a very nice family and I still visit her whenever I can. She still remembers me and my gentle ways. I looked around and found another horse to buy (like a fool – from the same horse trader); this horse, too, was dead–broke, gentle, any one could ride, going to be “the horse”, etc. Well, I soon discovered his dreadful rearing habit! He was very pushy on the ground, too – ran right through me one day. The advise was to beat the horse when he did something wrong…. Well, I just couldn’t do that. All the “bad” advise came pouring in from everywhere. And you know what! So many people are so free with my seat and my body!!! The horse trader would not take him back – all sales are final; he only sells horses, doesn’t buy repurchase them. Sound familiar? After a year of buying and selling many different horses and a whole lot more expense, we were lucky enough to find an acquaintance of G&G Flatshod Farms. Paul Shoffeitt spoke very highly of Glenda and Gerald Myers at the G&G. He stated that the horses were advertised just as they are – no big blown up exaggeration of their training background and temperaments. AND – if we were not satisfied we could return the horses. Thank goodness we found them when we did. We were just about to give up on the whole horse thing completely. We purchased two horses from G&G. They were exactly as advertised – extremely gentle with very calming dispositions – it’s such a pleasure being around them. They are true gentlemen on the ground and in the saddle. We trust them around our families and close friends – both young and small, old and frail. Thank you Glenda and Gerald so much!!!! We will always be indebted to you. Carla & Keith Rocky Ridge, Md
Sandy (Connecticut) Hi Glenda and Gerald, I just wanted to let you guys know how pleased I am with country crusin. I bought him from you last July and couldn’t ask for a better horse. After learning that he was a stud for awhile makes me even more impressed with the quality of horses that you guys sell. I got Country Crusin shipped to Connecticut and after that long ride he was so layed back and calm just as if he lived here all his life, I took him on a big horse council ride a week after him arriving here and he was awesome, we have all sorts of horses and riders in this group and country crusin listened to everything I told him to do without even a fuss, he is the first horse that I have ever owned that I feel so comfortable on and trust so much. We have three horses at our barn that came from your place and everyone of them are such gentlemen and good natured. You guys are true horse people and everyone I know I tell them to look you guys up if they want a horse that is a 10 in everyway. Hats off to true horse people. Thanks again Sandy Connecticut.
